It was smiles all around on Monday, as Foundation students at St Kieran’s Primary School in Moe started Term 4 in their new learning space, which has been dubbed a ‘Kids’ Paradise’.

St Kieran’s Primary School is preparing to enter the first stage of a new building project for new flexible learning spaces, library and administration area.

The Foundation/Art room and Administration/Library areas have been temporarily moved and new flexible learning areas have been established. The new space for the school’s youngest students has been created with their social and emotional wellbeing in mind.

The Principal at St Kieran’s Primary School, Mr Peter McKenna, said he is glad to see students flourishing as they return to on-site schooling.

“I’m extremely grateful for the hard work of all of our staff over the last two terms and for the home/school partnerships that have been developed. We understand how much of a strain remote schooling puts on families and we couldn’t be prouder of the resilience and positive attitudes of our students and their families.

“We are very happy to see new learning spaces being utilised and to see our students start to settle into their back to school routines,” he said.

Director of Catholic Education for the Diocese of Sale, Ms Maria Kirkwood, said she is pleased to see schools coming up with creative ways to re-introduce young students to on-site schooling.

“The staff at St Kieran’s Primary School are following best practice by engaging students in a space that has been specifically designed to encourage innovative teaching practice and collaborative learning.

“It’s wonderful to see students returning to the classroom so they can re-connect with their peers.

"It has been a particularly challenging year for staff, students and families, and we appreciate everyone’s efforts, as we work together to navigate these difficult times. We look forward in hope to a successful completion to the 2020 school year,” she said.
