Principals from Catholic primary and secondary schools across the Diocese of Sale came together for a Principals’ Briefing day with leaders from the Victorian Catholic Education Authority (VCEA) as guest speakers.
VCEA Chair James Merlino and VCEA CEO Professor Elizabeth Labone gave updates on governance, advocacy, stakeholder engagement and important work to come in the year ahead. Members of the VCEA executive also presented.
The VCEA is the peak body for Catholic school education in Victoria representing 419 Catholic schools across Victoria, 218,900 students and some 25,500 staff.
The forum provided an overview of the VCEA’s work in enabling dialogue and in supporting the sector to come together to solve challenges more effectively, including in the areas of government funding of Catholic schools, school regulation, enterprise bargaining, communications and advocacy, Catholic mission, and research and data analysis.
Also in attendance were DOSCEL Board Chair Garry McLean, DOSCEL CEO Paul Velten, Deputy Director Deb Punton and DOSCEL Executive team.
The DOSCEL Principal’s briefing is held each term and provides a platform for collaboration and professional development.
