Investing in School Leadership
14 April 2021
Future leaders of Catholic primary and secondary schools within the Diocese of Sale recently gathered in Inverloch for a three-day workshop to build on their leadership skills.
The Diocese of Sale Leadership Program (DOSLP) is a development opportunity for Catholic school staff currently in middle leadership positions or considering leadership. Now in its second year, the program has thus far been attended by 78 budding school leaders.
Ms Maria Kirkwood, Director of Catholic Education for the Diocese of Sale, said that building leadership capability at all levels is a high priority.
“Our leadership program is a terrific opportunity for the participants to learn more about their individual leadership style, leading effective teams, and strategic school improvement, while networking with other educators.
“The leadership program is one of several development and support opportunities offered by Diocese of Sale Catholic Education Ltd (DOSCEL), as part of our ongoing commitment to strengthen the capability of staff members in every Catholic school in our Diocese,” she said
The Diocese of Sale Leadership Program consists of two face-to-face intensives, each run over three days, and supported school-based practice throughout the year. Participants work with a school leadership consultant from Diocese of Sale Catholic Education Ltd and their principal, to develop and apply their skills.
“The early outcomes we’re seeing from the program are very encouraging, and I look forward to supporting the participants in their leadership journeys,” Ms Kirkwood said.
