Principal, Mrs Sharon Anderson said the new facilities had been transformative for the school creating additional contemporary, light-filled spaces for staff and students.

“The project was completed in three stages. Firstly, the existing parish centre, the Walsh Centre, was refurbished to create a new administration area, staffroom and principal’s office. Secondly, the previous administration area was refurbished to create two new general learning areas, and finally, three general learning areas and a special projects space were created. Additional security has also enhanced safety for both staff and students.”

Mrs Anderson said the completion of these works had provided additional learning spaces that provided flexibility to meet the needs of staff and students and encouraged collaboration to nurture student learning. The project also created a separate, child safe and aesthetically pleasing entry into the school and administration. As a school community we are extremely grateful to all who supported these projects.”

Mr Paul Velten, Director of Catholic Education for the Diocese of Sale, commended the efforts of the project team, school and parish community.

“St Joseph’s Catholic Primary School is committed to providing quality education and fostering strong ties within their learning community. The new facilities will provide additional resources and spaces for students to thrive academically, spiritually, and socially now and into the future.”

The $2,121,735 building project was supported by a $780,000 funding grant under the Australian Government Capital Grants Program, the school community, and a loan from the Catholic Development Fund (CDF).

A congratulatory message from the Hon. Jason Clare MP, Federal Minister for Education, was read out to the community.
