Sod turning marks next chapter for St Angela’s Primary School, Warragul
Work has begun on Stage 3 of a Masterplan redevelopment project to extend St Angela’s Catholic Primary School at Warragul to meet growing demand for enrolments.
To celebrate, a sod-turning ceremony was conducted by Bishop of Sale, Most Reverend Greg Bennet. The Bishop was joined by Ms Debra Punton – Acting Director of Catholic Education for the Diocese of Sale, Mr Stephen Pitt - Principal, Mr Alan Cubbin Director of Crosier Scott Architects, Mr Michael Bell and Mr Daniel Jones of Kubale Constructions.
Principal, Stephen Pitt said the school was excited to begin this next Stage 3 development which will further expand facilities to meet growing demand now and into the future.
Stage 3 will create additional new general learning areas, student amenities, outdoor learning areas, hard court, a roof enclosure to the existing hard court, playground, landscaping, and car park.
Acting Director of Catholic Education for the Diocese of Sale, Ms Debra Punton said the project represented DOSCEL’s ongoing commitment to providing high quality learning and teaching environments, and investment in school communities.
“St Angela of the Cross Primary School opened in 2021 and has experienced significant enrolment growth. Projections indicate this growth will continue. The Stage 3 project will increase the school’s capacity to accommodate 450 students providing modern, flexible, learning spaces to inspire learning and empower students to reach their full potential.”
The building project at a total cost of $6,953,722 is supported by a $6 million Capital Grant under the Victorian Government Capital Funding Program, and a loan from the Catholic Development Fund (CDF).
Ms Punton said DOSCEL and St Angela of the Cross Catholic Primary School were thankful for the Victorian Government’s support of the project.
The project led by Crosier Scott Architects and Kubale Constructions Pty Ltd is planned for completion in January 2026.
