Work has been steadily progressing to prepare for the opening of Warragul’s newest primary school, St Angela of the Cross.
Principal Justin Greenwood visited the site on Thursday, to inspect progress on construction of the school’s two storey building, car park and oval.
Mr Greenwood said that he expects the school to open at the start of Term 1 next year.
“The building works are running to schedule, despite the wet weather we’ve had. It’s looking very impressive.
“We’ve received many enrolment enquiries, and we have made significant progress on the myriad of activities that are required to establish a new school, from initial discussions about child safety and our school values, right down to the colour of the carpets.
“As foundation principal of St Angela’s Primary School, my hope is to build a safe and passionate learning community, following in the footsteps of St Angela of the Cross who was determined to share the Good News of Jesus by serving others.
“I am particularly keen to get to know and embrace the community, and most importantly the children and parents who are going to help shape the future of our school,” he said.
Director of Catholic Education for the Diocese of Sale, Ms Maria Kirkwood, said that she was pleased with the progress being made, and looked forward to welcoming families to the new school.
“Our vision for St Angela of the Cross is to provide a faith-filled environment that will enable students to achieve their personal best,” she said.
St Angela of the Cross Primary School is the first new school to be established in Warragul in almost 20 years. Enrolment enquiries can be made online via the St Angela's website, or by phone on 5622 9800.
