Tutoring Learning Initiative 2021

At Diocese of Sale Catholic Education Ltd (DOSCEL), we aim to deliver high quality Catholic education for every student in our Diocese. We seek to support students to become successful learners who come to know, value and draw on the life-giving traditions and teaching of the Catholic faith.

To support students whose learning has been disrupted due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Department of Education and Training has developed the Tutor Learning Initiative 2021 for all Victorian schools.

The initiative is delivered by tutors through targeted teaching during school hours to students who require support in DOSCEL primary and secondary schools.

DOSCEL schools determine the most appropriate model of tutoring for their school and students, with support from the DOSCEL Secretariat.

Register to become a tutor

DOSCEL is continuing to take expressions of interest from pre-service teachers, teachers on leave, part-time teachers interested in working more hours, recently retired teachers and casual relief teachers to become a tutor.

You may be eligible to be a tutor at a DOSCEL primary or secondary school if you:

  • are currently registered with the Victorian Institute of Teaching (VIT)

  • have 'Permission to Teach' from the VIT

  • are a pre-service teacher working under the supervision of an experienced teacher.

If you're a retired teacher, please contact VIT to get support to re-register.

DOSCEL schools are responsible for the recruitment and employment of tutors and are expected to adhere to relevant DOSCEL policies and procedures.

Employment of tutors in DOSCEL schools must be compliant with the terms and conditions of the Victorian Catholic Education Multi-Enterprise Agreement 2018.
